In this meeting, we will be selecting 50 digital images for the Fall CICCA competition. Each member may submit 8 digital images. Everyone that brings images will have at least 1 image selected to be entered in the competition.  Members will vote on the images. If you're not a Champaign County Camera Club member, please come anyway and enjoy viewing the images!

Members, please bring your images to this meeting on a flash drive. Images should be sized so they do not exceed 1400 pixels in the horizontal direction or 1050 pixels in the vertical direction. These requirements will allow the best viewing of your images on our projected screen.

If you wish to enter Prints in this competition, you are limited to 8. You may enter up to 8 Digital images and/or up to 8 Prints.  Please bring mounted prints to this meeting or arrange a time to give your prints to our CICCA Representative,  Mary Cattell

CICCA Fall Salon on Saturday

This is our big print and digital competition of the year with neighboring Camera Clubs in the CICCA Association.

In this Inter-Club competition hosted by the Springfield Illinois Camera Club, the projected images and prints are entered by the club rather than by individuals. As a club, 50 digital images, 50 color prints and 50 monochrome prints are entered.  CICCA Fall Salon Invitation and forms will be sent out to club members and posted on the website when the date nears.

There are no viewing or registration fee for members who wish to attend the salon.

Print Competition

Refer to Print Categories in our Competition Guidelines for specific information. Mary Cattell is our Print Competition Chairperson and can also answer any questions. Although unable to participate, non-members are welcome to come view the prints and watch the competition. 

There are three categories for this Intra-Club Competition: 

Small Prints must be no larger than 8"x 12" and must be mounted on 11"x 14" foam board. Note that given the dimensions, small prints physically cannot be flush mounted.

Large Prints exceed 8" x 12" in any dimension, but cannot exceed 16" x 20". Large prints may be flush mounted.

Open Prints may be produced on any medium, be submitted mounted or un-mounted, matted or un-matted, and be of any size or shape, provided they fit entirely within the 20"x 20" display box.

You may enter up to 4 images per category - maximum of 12 images total. Please affix a Competition Label to the back, top left corner, of your print and bring it to the meeting. Here is a PDF Version of the Competition Label if you prefer.

CCCC Spring Salon (Saturday)

The Annual Salon is when we show the best of our year’s photography and enjoy the input from different judges before sending images and prints to the Spring Salon of the Central Illinois Camera Club Association (CICCA). It is an all-day event starting at 9 am and ending around 4 pm. Reviewing the year and lunching with the judges is a great experience.

Prints - Entries are limited to a maximum of EIGHT prints in any category. Print categories are Category A.- small, Category B - large, and Category C - open.

Digital images (projected images): Entries are limited to THREE in any digital category and to a maximum of 15 in all categories. The 9 digital categories are:

Digital categories (PR=Photorealistic; O=Open): 1. Category A - Landscapes. PR; 2. Category C - Fauna. PR; 3. Category D - Flora. PR; 4. Category E - Architecture. PR; 5. Category F - General. O; 6. Category G - Nature. PR; 7. Category H – Monochrome. PR; 8. Category I - Contemporary/Creative O.

Definitions of the print and digital categories, instructions about sizing requirements, and entry forms can be found in the Competition Rules.

Select images for I-74 Challenge.

All members are welcome to select images for our last competition of the year: the I-74 Challenge!

Please bring a maximum of 8 images for the club to select for the I-74 Challenge. Prepare your image according to competition rules for Projected Image Competitions. The image size is 1400 x 1050 and name the file using letter C for the category. For example: C-1(entry #1-8)-00(your competition #)-title.jpg

The KodaRoamers in Bloomington will be hosting this years challenge in early May 2020.

I-74 Challenge

Two camera clubs located along I-74, The Bloomington KodaRoamers and the Champaign County Camera Club, meet annually with 50 digital images from their club to compete for points on a certain topic. At our May 6th club meeting, we will select 50 images to send to the competition. Each member participating from our Club is guaranteed one entry. Digital images must be taken after May 10, 2018.

This year's topic is Complementary Colors. Complementary colors are directly opposite each other in the color spectrum, such as red and green or blue and orange, that when combined in the right proportions, produce white light.

CCCC is hosting this year. More information to come.

All members are welcome to finalize decisions on next year's schedule and select images for our last competition of the year: the I-74 Challenge!

CICCA Spring Salon

This is our 2nd big print and digital competition of the year with neighboring Camera Clubs in the CICCA Association.  This is different from the CICCA Fall Salon in that it is an individual competition instead of an Inter-Club competition.  The projected images and prints are entered individually instead as a whole club. Because this is an individual competition, entry fees apply. For each person submitting digital or print entries, the entry fee is $4.00 per division entered (digital/print). For those entering both prints and digital images the cost would be $8.00.

Our CICCA Club Representative, Mary Cattell, must have all prints and digital images by Saturday, April 13th. Refer to the CICCA Spring Salon Invitation for more information. Don’t forget to affix your print label to the top right corner of your print and complete the Digital Entry Form and/or the Print Entry Form.

Members are encouraged to bring no more than 10 images and talk about them. This is similar to the Get Acquainted meeting at the beginning of the year, but fewer photos, and perhaps you have some new photos since our first meeting. Members are also welcome to get feedback on images they may want to use for Best in Show, as the deadline will be the end of this month.

Rosa also plans to make a short presentation for safe handling of your camera, especially for us old folks!

Remember, size images to 1400 x 1050 pixels so the projection will display your image correctly.

"Fix The Photo" creative project. In this fun activity, members are given a digital image prior to this meeting. Members are told to manipulate the image however they seem fit. It could be a serious, creative manipulation or something quite humorous. Members bring back their creative image to this meeting to show the group.

Member Critique: Bring one or two digital images for the group to see and make detailed suggestions. We generally have someone at the computer using post-processing tools to implement changes to each image. The critique is a great way to see your work from a different point of view especially in preparation for year-end competitions.
